"this i believe"

In an article called "Just Say no"Jessica Paris talks about how she says no to more than just sugary foods. She also says no to slogans and advertisements on T.V. This belief gave Jessica the strength to give her freedom to experience things in her life without something or someone having to do it for her. For example in the article Jessica says that "This dollar is a part of art or a articfact of the human race so  I said no." This quote means that Jessica Paris valued that one dollar she said had for safe keeping and to invest to earn more money.

Afghan/ Health Fair

In the New York Times there's an article called "Afghan Girls, Scarred by Acid, Defy Terror, Embracing School."This article was written by Dexter Filkins a New York Times. In this article a afghan girl named Shamisa Husseini gets severly burned by a taliban man who sprays burning acid in her face along with her sister. Now parents of Shamisa and other parents aren't letting their daughters go to school. 14 other girls got burned badly just like Shamisa. For example Shamisa 's uncle, Ghulam Sekhi, feels bad about the situation of all the afghan girls getting burned by the Taliban group. He says" I don't want the girls sitting around and wasting their lives."

broadcasting a world of whiteness

In The article "Broadcasting a World of Whiteness" by Jon Caramanica talks about how a lot of T.V. shows are showing more white people than black, hispanic, and asian people. "Girls"is an example of not having enough of diverse shows. Thinking it's going on on all of the shows except BET and Centric. This article points out that other shows like "Two and a Half Men" and "How I Met Your Mother" are just as diverse like "Girls."Also that the criticism of all the shows reflect on the race of white people. Therefore in my opinion I agree that shows should be more diverse. Also I believe this because every time I watch T.V. or a movie most of the actors are white and there are only maybe one or two black or hispanic or asian people. Then I also believe that network television doesn't have diverse cast because mostly white can act better than white and also black people take it over the top with the emotions and white people don't. I wonder if anyone will change or fight to have more diverse casts on more white white television shows

In an article i read about obesity and pregnancy called "Obesity and diabetes link to child disorders" i learned that Obese women and those with Type 2 diabetes could be increasing their chances of having a child with autism or another development disorder. In California,1.3% of women have Type 2 diabetes and 7.4% have diabetes which developed during pregnancy. that suprised me because i never thought that you could get diabetes while being pregnant. i never knew how much weight you gained or how much you weighed period mattered when you are pregnant. 9.3% of the children with mothers with type 2 diabetes have autism and also 11.6% of that group have some type of a disability. i feel that this is a shame because those children did not do anything to deserve those things. and neither did those mothers, some women have weight problems that are very very hard to deal with and sometimes they don't try to help it or make it better than some just try then give up then when they get pregnant they could be one of those people who deal with the scare of something being wrong with their children. In the US, the study noted that 34% of women of child-bearing age are obese and nearly 9% are diabetic. i feel like people should be more aware of this and if women are preparing to become pregnant they should loose weight and try to be as healthy as possible.

Snooki will be a good mom

According to people.com  Nicole Polizzi well as we know her Snooki, is pregnant and engaged.  In this article Vinny Guadagnino says “She’ll be a great mom. She’s already drastically changed her life," then says "I think this is a good wakeup call, so I think she’ll be cool." I do too, i also think her parting days are over and not just on hold though. Guadagnino thinks that even after Snooki has the baby things will be the same with the cast and the show. i highly doubt that because when you have a child, that should be your main focus. i do not believe that when you bring a child into the world you should still be worried about fighting and television  shows, yes you have to make your money to support you and your child but that should still be your main focus. i think maybe everyone will still get along and support her but i don't think they should be in drama together, thats not good around the baby. as for the show, they didn't say if she is going back on and i also dont know how many more seasons there are. but i do know that i don't think that would be the best thing because of the child she will be bringing in the world. bottom line i am happy for Snooki and her fiance but she should just focus on her home life for now. and let her soon to be husband take care of bills and other problems involving money.

Should high schools give out condoms??

In an article i read called "Docs: Give Teens Condoms in High School" by Robin Eisner they were talking about giving condoms to students in high school because the number of new cases of sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancies in this country. i think that is true, they should be available for everyone because students should practice safe sex so accidents don't happen. But i also don't think that they should just throw them around at people encouraging them to have sex. a condom is a good thing to give to students because if a sexually active student has sex with a condom it is a very better chance of them not getting a sexually transmitted disease and a greater chance of a female not getting pregnant. it is better to be on the safe side because if the student does not have a condom they could get multiple types of diseases, which ruins their life because if they were to ever have sex again they could pass it on, or they could have a child then an inoccent child has a disease and cant do anything about it because there are alot of diseases you can not cure, that would be a shame. also, if you don't use a condom the female could get pregnant and that could ruin their life even without a disease because some people cannot handle a child at all let alone young, but sometimes people make mistakes especially if they don't have nobody telling them right from wrong and sometimes they would have to drop out of school to raise their child. thats why if you are a virgin stay one until you have your own and if your not stay safe and stay with one person.

most births outside marriage

I read the article "For Woman Under 30, Most Births Occur Outside Marriage" by Jason Deparle and Sabrina Tavernise. it was obviously about how more children are born to unmarried parents under the age of 30. i know there are multiple reasons for this. for example, some pregnancies are unplanned like if you don't use condoms or are not on any type of birth control and you are not married it is likely to happen. Also, some women might not be ready to marry like my biological mother she says she don't wanna marry because she does not want to be responsible for anybody else i think she is just selfish because although she just turned 32, she has 4 kids and 3 different fathers to her children and she has not been married yet. also my friend's aunt got 6 kids, 5 different fathers to her children and still is not married, although she wants to marry she did not yet. i just do not think that this should be an issue because what you do with your body, your time and your life is your business. sometimes people don't want to get married for several reasons like also a lady in the article said that if she would have married her baby's father it would have been like raising 2 kids. but there is also people who want to be married and wont have sex or a child without a ring on their finger, even though there is not that many people who do that now and days.

A recent article called "AT&T changes throttling policy for heavy data users" talks about how AT&T 's unlimited plan is not really unlimited. the data is actually unlimited until you reach a certain amount of data then they start to charge you extra. i don't think they should do that if they say unlimited it should be just that. i have AT&T and i do not feel like that is right because if I'm paying a price for something unlimited i don't want to pay extra fees. so if you have AT&T be careful about using too much data because your bill could be more than it should be. i believe if they are going to do this they shouldnt have an "unlimited" plan. thats not right to mislead people and make them think they are getting something that they are not. even though you can talk underground with at&t some people would rather have Metro PCS or Cricket because of the price and they are truely unlimited.

photoshopped or not

I read an article called "photoshopped or not" by Steve Lohr, this article was about "Dr. Farid and Eric Kee proposing a software tool for measuring how much fashion and beauty photos have been altered." by looking at the picture above you see that people photoshop things and picture, sometimes even too much. Overall they just do it to make people look prettier like they're face and they're bodies. but that is not always a good thing because some people look up to stars and models and singers they see on television or on a picture and think they are so pretty, but sometimes they could look just like you. so people should not compare their self to any model or singer or even actor because how they look on television might not be how they look in person.

Facebook is using you

The article i read "Facebook Is Using You" by Lori Andrews was very interesting to me. A lot of things she pointed out was a lot of things i have never thought about and she made me think about things more in detail. she told me how Facebook makes money and at one point she actually made me feel like i did not want a Facebook anymore. she made it known to me that almost everything you put on Facebook can be used against you. like have you ever noticed that when you post a status or even when you send messages privately like though inbox you get these little advertisements about something you wrote like say you post about shopping an ad for shopping, malls, a variety of different stores or even gift cards might come on the side of your screen. also when you apply for a job they look you up on the internet and if they find you on Facebook it might not be a good thing because they categorize you in various different ways from what you like or what your bio is on Facebook or your sex, your age, or even your race. and because of the internet people can find almost everything about anybody. i think it is important for everybody to be aware of this and that you should only put certain things on the internet to save your future.

I'm a criminal

I read an article called "I'm a criminal and so are you" by Michelle Alexander. In this article she says "In this country, we force millions of people- who are largely black and brown- into a permanent second-class status, simply because they once committed a crime. once labeled a felon, you are ushered into a parallel social universe. you can be denied the right to vote, automatically excluded from juries and legally discriminated against in employment, housing, access to education and public benefits- forms of discrimination that we supposably left behind". i understand where she is coming from about everybody committing a crime and not getting caught but if she says you are a criminal. i wouldn't go that far, i think that yes everybody does something wrong according to the law when they are growing up but sometimes there is a reason and they don't know better from a bad living situation or the way your parents raise you then there is some that just do it on purpose but either way i think unless it is something that is truly hurting somebody else like rape or murder than it is not that bad. i wouldn't call everybody a criminal because everybody makes mistakes and if it was that bad everybody would be in prison, you can't put everybody in prison because the society and the government wont work, they wont have money to pay for the prisons and it just would not work. i also feel like some police lock people up for no reason, minor reasons or really just because they can. but for the most part i agree with her that everybody commits crimes just not everybody gets caught.

"iPad"

In the article i read "In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an iPad" by Charles Duhigg and David Barboza it was mainly about "the workers assembling iPhones, iPads and other devices often labor in harsh conditions, according to employees inside those plants, workers advocates and documents published by companies themselves". workers in those factories and buildings were severly hurt or killed. people love these creations and revises to technology but they don't know how they are made and the dangers in the process. this article told me about a lot going on in china that i would have never even thought was happening. for example, the people killed, the people injured, how little they get paid, the aluminum dust,  the process and the dangers of working in those factories like apple. i think like me, some people would really be interested in this topic because almost everybody got an apple something, from laptop, to iPod, to iPad and then there's the iPhone. i think apple is probably one of the biggest companies in the world. i just think people should lay off on buying apple products because what they are doing to their workers just ain't right but also what's done is done so if you already have something apple, keep it because you paid good money for it and there is no use for throwing it away for something in the past

never go to bed angry

I was always told to never go to bed angry because when you wake up the feelings will still be there and you might grow this kind of resentment towards them. and some people believe that, but only because they hear it a lot so they think it is true. studies has shown it is not. when you sleep after being hurt, heartbroken, or just plain mad, you are just preserving your emotions. you are not hiding them or building them up, you are just saving them for another time. some people even say they cant sleep during the night when something bad happens. and that is because them thoughts are there just wondering through your head. I'm still not saying it is good because it is not. i believe you should speak your mind to make your self feel better and to get stuff off of your chest so the person you have a conflict with knows what is really wrong and if he or she really cares they will try to fix it. even if they don't try to fix it get it off your chest anyway. it will make you feel better and you will not have them thoughts in your head and you will not have to go to bed angry. but eventually you will have to talk about what is upsetting you because if not you are going to blow up.

young teenagers in love

When you are in a relationship, you want to express your love and show that you really care about your partner. you want to show that you are all for them and nobody else. usually it is just the simple things like holding your hand or posting things on your (facebook)wall. but teenagers have been taking it to further and risky heights. some have been sharing password, letting their partner read their text messages and also having no limits to a relationship. that is not good because when you have no limits in a relationship, especially sharing passwords that could ruin your reputation if anything bad happens in your relationship. say you have a fight with your partner and yall end yall relationship and he or she decide im going to change your settings, like your password and lock you out of your facebook what are you going to do? they could also write mean things about you on the website or they could share your password with anybody. that is why i believe you should have some type of limits to a relationship and not just give everything away at once unless you are married. but these teenagers are not and they give everything they got to somebody in a short amount of time. a lot of kids are falling "in love" to easily, and most don't really know what it is for sure. some also confuse lust for love and that is not good either. i think they should try to take it slower and see if that person is really there for them. and even if you think they are don't just give them everything, make them wait

Cracking Teenagers' Online Codes

I think Dr. Boyd is a good person. she understands us teenagers and our problems. from facebook to twitter she understands that we are not doing anything wrong or to hurt or affect other people in a hurtful way on purpose. sometimes when we put lyrics of a song as a tweet or a status it is really because we are heartbroken. or sometimes we are hurt, and don't know how to express our anger. but there are some who do abuse these websites by putting inappropriate pictures or curse words on their status's. some talk to strangers around the world on the internet and sometimes they get their selfs in trouble or danger. that is why parents think we shouldn't be on these sites; but it is not all of us. Dr. Boyd understands us and knows that we are not abusing the site. i love having a facebook sometimes facebook can help me through things. when i had a rough day i get on facebook, post what i'm thinking and usually one of my close friends comment and make me feel better. i am extremely happy that Dr. Boyd is trying to get this point across to parents and guardians. that makes me see and feel like there is adults who understand what we go through and what we be talking about. even though everybody is on facebook from teenagers to elders, we all still have a good time.

Teenage love

You are never too young for love. i believe everybody needs love, affection, and someone to care for them.   when you start to hit the age where you start to look at a person in a crush type of way, you start to yearn for love. some people look for love in all the wrong places, but that all depends on what happen to you when you were younger as a child. i believe almost all students start dating by at least 16. and some are slow and enjoy it and stay wit one person at one time. others could be cheaters, or just in a relationship to be in one with no kind of feelings. people don't know the true meaning of being loving and caring anymore. especially boys all they want is sex, but that's not all boys. some boys can be nice and gentle if they really like you. but that's not only boys there are girls who can be hoes, or just have been treated so bad before that when there is a good person for you who treats you with respect sometimes you push them away or you are just not used to it so and you think you like getting treated bad because that's all you know. that is why some people turn out the way they do because when they were young they got they're heart broken and some people need more work than others, some get over it faster. but people have to learn for them self, you cant tell somebody something and expect them not to do it, even young peoples parents now and days, because some people aren't supposed to date until a certain age and wind up sneaking a couple of years early. but just because you go out with someone does not mean its love. a relationship is what you make it.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

Christmas is a joyful time for some people as for others not so much. some people love the holidays, they decorate, cook big meals, give and recieve gifts, and most importantly spend time with their loved ones.  but others like my mother does not like the holidays, either for financial reasons, deaths around that time of the year or even you just don't like people and want to be alone. usually there are parades, party's, get togethers, and happy times. i believe no matter what you are going through around the holidays you can be happy and forgiving and loving towards everybody. you can spend time with your family, friends, boyfriend/ girlfriend and others.
