I'm a criminal

I read an article called "I'm a criminal and so are you" by Michelle Alexander. In this article she says "In this country, we force millions of people- who are largely black and brown- into a permanent second-class status, simply because they once committed a crime. once labeled a felon, you are ushered into a parallel social universe. you can be denied the right to vote, automatically excluded from juries and legally discriminated against in employment, housing, access to education and public benefits- forms of discrimination that we supposably left behind". i understand where she is coming from about everybody committing a crime and not getting caught but if she says you are a criminal. i wouldn't go that far, i think that yes everybody does something wrong according to the law when they are growing up but sometimes there is a reason and they don't know better from a bad living situation or the way your parents raise you then there is some that just do it on purpose but either way i think unless it is something that is truly hurting somebody else like rape or murder than it is not that bad. i wouldn't call everybody a criminal because everybody makes mistakes and if it was that bad everybody would be in prison, you can't put everybody in prison because the society and the government wont work, they wont have money to pay for the prisons and it just would not work. i also feel like some police lock people up for no reason, minor reasons or really just because they can. but for the most part i agree with her that everybody commits crimes just not everybody gets caught.
